A stunning gammon slow cooker recipe

One of the widely loved holiday season dishes is the gammon. You can enjoy smoked gammon, but we have a unique yet utterly delicious twist on the traditional recipe. This gammon slow cooker recipe is not just easy to make but is loaded with flour from the spices. The slow cooking extracts maximum flavours from the meat. Moreover, the gammon is finished off in the oven with a sticky and rich glaze and a beautiful golden colour on top.

Ingredients

  • 1kg gammon joint
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 2 medium carrots, thickly sliced
  • ½ tsp black peppercorns
  • 6 Cloves
  • 250ml beef stock
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp mustard
  • ¼ tsp black pepper

Method

STEP 1

In a slow cooker, place the gammon joint in the middle.

STEP 2

Place diced onions, carrots, cloves, and peppercorns around the gammon.

STEP 3

Pour beef stock over the gammon.

STEP 4

Seal the lid and cook the gammon for about 4 hours at a high temperature. You can also cook it at a low temperature for about 7 hours.

STEP 5

Once done, take it out of the slow cooker and place it on a baking tray.

STEP 6

In a bowl, mix honey, mustard, and black pepper. Using a brush, baste it generously on the gammon.

STEP 7

Place it in the preheated oven for 15 minutes at 300-degree F until it gets colour.

STEP 8

Serve alongside vegetables and fresh green salad. Enjoy.
